From Goodreads.com:
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.
In the Maze, life was easy. They had food, and shelter, and safety . . . until Teresa triggered the end. In the world outside the Maze, however, the end was triggered long ago.
Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated—and with it, order—and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim . . . and meal.
The Gladers are far from finished with running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
Thomas can only wonder—does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

My Thoughts:
This is one exciting book. I didn’t know who to trust or what to expect. I constantly tried to take all the clues and make sense of what was going to happen!! By the end of the book I still didn’t have a clue what would happen in the 3rd and final book.

Thomas is a great character. He does what it takes to survive and keep his friends alive. He’s the kind of guy you’d want as a friend and leader. Thomas has a friend named Minho who I love! He seriously cracks me up. I love his bluntness. Minho’s a tough and light-hearted guy trying to get through these horrific circumstances. He seriously makes me laugh out loud. Newt is another friend of Thomas’s that I think is awesome!

I definitely cringed and felt sick throughout the tense moments. I won’t say anymore because no one wants their read spoiled. Check My Ratings at the end of this post to see more details.

I can’t wait to read the 3rd book. I should be starting it very soon! As soon as my husband finishes it. Since he introduced me to the series he gets first dips on the next book in the series. That’s our little deal.

My Ratings: (highlight between ( ) to view details)
Sexual Content: very mild ( 1 brief kiss )
Language: mild ( bloody-few times, made up words used instead like “shuck” “slint” “klunk” )
Violence: moderate ( fighting, blood, deaths, vivid injuries, loss of limbs, gruesome enemies )

Happy Reading!
