Waiting On Wednesday: Under the Never Sky

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Under the Never Sky
by Veronica Rossi
Release Date is January 3, 2012

Book Description from HarperTeen.com:
Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.
Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world brimming with harshness and beauty.

I hadn’t heard about this book. I found it while browsing the HarperTeen upcoming releases. It sounds really good. I really like books where the boy and girl kind of hate each other at the beginning. It makes a fun dynamic. I’ve added it to my extremely long to-read list!

Happy Reading!

  1. Characters- I like Aria from the start. She was determined to get answers from people who might have them so she used her singing abilities to her advantage. When things went awry, she took charge and tried to find a way out. When she has to tell her story, she does, even though it may condemn her. And when she finds herself alone outside of the safety of Reverie, she doesn't sit down and have a pity fest.

  2. I'd never heard of this either, but it sounds really interesting….Maybe a touch like The Scorch Trials? Killer lightning storms and a harsh landscape. I'm kind of a fan of the “I hate you…no, wait, now I love you” dynamic, too if it's done well. 🙂
