August 13th 2019 by Northern Lights Press

A fierce elite guard. A loyal lady in waiting. They must work together to save three princesses from certain death.

On the verge of dying after giving birth to twins, the queen of Mercia pleads with Lady Felicia to save her infant daughters. With the castle overrun by King Ethelwulf’s invading army, Lady Felicia vows to do whatever she can to take the newborn princesses and their three-year old sister to safety, even though it means sacrificing everything she holds dear, possibly her own life.

Gravely wounded in battle and knowing all is lost to his enemy, the king of Mercia tasks Lance, one of his fiercest elite guards, to protect his family along with keys to an ancient treasure. As Lance makes plans to sneak the princesses out of the capital city, he doesn’t need or want Lady Felicia’s help.

With the dark enemy in pursuit, Lance and Felicia must put aside their differences to outrun King Ethelwulf and prevent him from killing the princesses. In a desperate attempt to hide the young girls, Lance and Felicia agree to a marriage of convenience, a decision that will change their lives—and hearts—forever.

I LOVED this book! I was taken to another world full of danger and watched the main characters’ become stronger physically and emotionally.

Felicia and Lance had never met until they are pushed together. When the Queen was dying from giving birth to her twins she asked Felicia to take her baby daughters to safety. Felicia can’t believe that the Queen has chosen her for such a responsibility. Lance is asked by the dying King to protect his daughters as well.

Lance and Felicia learn about their own personal weaknesses as they try to work together. They go through heartbreaking events. The trials they go through bring them to prayer and give them strength.

Always by Jody Hedlund was an incredible adventure and romance. It was a fast passed novella that begins The Lost Princesses trilogy. Always left me wanting to read all of this Heart-filled Christian Teen Romance series!

By Jody Hedlund

Christian YA Historical

Paperback & ebook, 222 Pages

August 27th 2019 by Northern Lights Press

An ancient key. A secret treasure. And a princess destined to use them both to fight evil and restore peace.

Raised by a noble family, Lady Adelaide has always known she’s an orphan. Little does she realize she’s one of the lost princesses and the true heir to Mercia’s throne…until a visitor arrives at her family estate, reveals her birthright as queen, and thrusts her into a quest for the throne whether she’s ready or not.

Unable to tolerate King Ethelwulf’s cruelty and lawlessness, Christopher Langley left Mercia years earlier, training a group of rebels in neighboring Norland. When he returns home after his mother’s death, he discovers that not only is Adelaide all grown up, but she’s also the rightful queen of Mercia.

When King Ethelwulf discovers Adelaide’s location, he’ll stop at nothing to capture her and the key she holds to the ancient treasure. Christopher is just as determined to protect Adelaide so she can lead the growing rebellion. When feelings ignite between the two old friends, forces threaten to destroy their love and rip them apart forever.

Incredible! I loved this teen historical fiction with romance and adventure! I went straight from reading the novella to this first book in the trilogy.

Adelaide grew up with a family that took her in after her parents died. She knew they weren’t related, but they had told people around them that she was their niece. She grew up with 3 boy “cousins.” I loved how Adelaide had had a crush on her older “cousin” Christopher. She knew they weren’t related so she let herself dream of marrying him. Christopher had always thought of Adelaide as his little friend until he saw how she’d grown up to be a strong and beautiful woman.

It had been way to long since I’d read a teen fiction with adventures! Evermore by Jody Hedlund took me away into a historical fiction where the characters went through trials and felt strengthened through prayer. I loved this YA Christian Fiction! I plan to read the next two books as soon as they are released!

EXCERPT

Mr. Perfect could be real trouble.
Not that he wasn’t qualified. He was more than qualified. He made the best vanilla latte she’d had in months, possibly ever. And he was telling the truth about his past—a simple Google
search confirmed his story.
But serious amounts of time around that smile, those caramel eyes and the way his voice spilled out so effortlessly, doing crazy things to her insides … yeah, good thing it was a part-time temporary gig. She needed her full attention—
“How hot is he?”
Catherine’s question sent a tell-tale heat creeping up Lindsay’s neck. What, Cat could read her mind? She dunked the mixing bowl into the hot soapy water and danced around the
inquiry. “Who?”
“Oh, please. You can’t fool me.” Catherine deposited the rest of the dirty dishes on the counter next to the sink. “I walked by yesterday and peeked in the window. There you were, sipping coffee and sharing a macaron with Mr. All-American boy-next-door. Now you conveniently want to hire him.”
“He’s completely qualified. Lots of previous work experience.” Plus, a captivating smile and more than one intriguing tattoo inked on his muscular arms. Her skin flushed warmer and she dipped her chin, hoping Catherine wouldn’t notice.
No such luck.
“Are you blushing?” Cat leaned closer. “My word, you are.”
“Stop.” Lindsay rinsed the soap from the bowl then set it in the drying rack. Why did she have to be so transparent?
“So he’s not good-looking?”
“That’s not what I said.”
“Looked hot to me.”
Lindsay sucked in a breath. That was all Cat needed.
“Ha.” Catherine did a victory dance. “I knew it. You do like him.”
“I do not.” Lindsay grabbed a towel and dried her hands. Ugh. They had reverted into their seventh-grade selves—baking yet another concoction while discussing their secret crushes. Or not so secret crushes. Catherine had radar for that sort of thing. Wait until she told her he’d offered to go with her to check out that dilapidated truck. She’d flip.
“Have you checked his references?” Catherine wiped the remnants of their cookie baking session from the counter. “Made sure he’s legit?”
“Not yet.”
“Aren’t you the least bit curious about where he came from or why he’s here?”
Curious didn’t begin to describe it. More like nosy. She’d followed all sorts of rabbit trails last night in her quest to learn more about Rhett. His social media was filled with posts
about Nashville, confirming his story. He was clearly into the music scene. Other than that, she’d come up with zero new details.
“He’s from Oregon originally. Spent a lot of time in Nashville.” Lindsay tossed the crumpled paper towel in the trash can. There was no reason not to trust him. If yesterday was any
indication of his talents, he knew a thing or two about making great coffee. He’d totally whipped Hans into shape, too. So what if he didn’t reveal much about his personal life. Wasn’t that the mark of a professional?

A Family for Jason is full of real life. Every one of us goes through trials throughout our lives. This book cuts deep and is real.

Ruby and Mike are in their late 30s and find themselves pushed back to Bluestone River, their home town. The story goes into the past with Ruby and Mike’s life as teenagers falling in love. Their memories of each other are so precious. But terrible things had happened which emotionally scarred both of them away from their home and each other. I love how they get to be surprised toward the beginning of the book when they see each other for the first time in twenty years!

Ruby has returned to help Emma, her best friend from her Bluestone River days. Emma needs Ruby’s help, and Ruby feels the need to escape from where she currently lives. Ruby expects to leave as soon as possible from the hometown that brings back hard memories. Mike has a sweet little 6 year old boy, Jason, whom he barely knows. Jason has gone through a life changing fire and saw his mother die. He will not talk because of the trauma. Like I said these characters are going through real life heartaches.

All of the Harlequin Heartwarming contemporary romance novels go up and down with joy and sadness. A Family for Jason by Virginia McCullough fulfilled my expectations of realistic life difficulties and fast heart beating romance.

Kathryn Cooper Writes’ REVIEW

4 out of 5 STARS

I had a smile on my face from the very beginning of reading Trusting Her Heart by Tara Randel. I liked the main characters as well as the fun side characters. I look forward to reading the books before and after in this Meet Me at the Altar series.

Golden sounds like a beautiful little town where Serena had begun to settle in and which happens to be where Logan grew up. Serena was thoughtful of others and full of kindness. Logan felt the peace of his hometown but also felt like he couldn’t stay for other reasons.

Logan’s Grandma was so fun, and brought a smile and laugh to the story. She was strong and didn’t give up on  what she wanted in life. There were many great side characters. I hope there will be future stories with Serena and Logan’s friends.

If you enjoy Heartwarming Romance with family, friendships, and some good laughs then read this book. Some of life’s trials feel unbreakable. Some hard times have to be pushed through. Trusting Her Heart by Tara Randel is a wonderful read full of the ups and downs of life.

Kathryn Cooper Writes’ REVIEW

4 out of 5 STARS

Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet clean romance read! It’s the 4th in a series, but you don’t have to read the first 3 books. Those book characters do enter this story which makes me want to go back and read their sweet romance.

A wildfire makes Brooke and her animal family leave their home. With her pets she can’t find a place for shelter. Thankfully she’s blessed to find a kind older man named Rick who brings her to his son Dan’s guesthouse. Throughout the story you get to see Brooke’s way of talking through problems with others. She connects with animals that have been through difficult times because of what she went through when her husband died. Dan is an organized single dad of a child with type 1 diabetes. He went through heartbreak when his wife left him and his son at a young age.

There are a lot of characters in this story! Because I’ve gone through brain cancer I struggle remembering names so I kept a paper and pen nearby. The characters are all great additions to the story. Dan’s dad and son are sweet to everyone. The dogs and cats are cute and loving. Valerie, Dan’s ex-wife, brings frustrations and more. Dan’s little brother Jason is a great addition to the emotions of this story.

Brooke and Dan are both scared to get emotionally connected because of the hard things life has put them through. I felt heartwarming feelings build up throughout this read. Single Dad to the Rescue by Cari Lynn Webb is a romance with life building experiences which we can all relate to in different ways.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Reunited with the Cowboy
By Claire McEwen

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

This story was a joy and a challenge to write. It’s a big emotional mix of wildlife and ranching and what happens when the two intersect. It’s also a story of forgiveness and healing and, of course, love, in all its forms. I hope you enjoy the excerpts and reviews, and the chance to meet the characters, human and otherwise, who live in the Northern California ranching town of Shelter Creek. . .

Thoughts of a Blonde – Excerpt

Except lately the mountain lions in this area had been attacking livestock on local ranches. And people definitely noticed that.

That was why Maya was here, in the coastal hills surrounding her hometown of Shelter Creek, on a two-month assignment for the Department of Wildlife. She was going to try to find pumas. Photograph them. Count and classify them. Assess the population’s overall health and figure out why they were eating so many sheep.

Britt Reads Fiction – Review

Reunited with the Cowboy was a really good story. . . . The author did a great job of weaving in the mountain lion and ranching details to create a very interesting setting. . . . I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more books in this series.”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“This is a, somewhat predictable drama, but very well-written, with a couple of interesting “twists”. The reader is sure to “fall in love” with the characters. The background scenes are also portrayed in a way it is easy to visualize.”

Paulette’s Papers – Excerpt

Clawing her way out of the confining straps, Maya jumped to her feet, groped for her safety whistle and blew hard. The shrill sound sliced open the night.

Pepper spray. It was in her belt. Wrenching it from the holster, Maya held out the can and slowly backed away from the dark shadow emerging from the bushes.

“Hang on! It’s okay!”

The unexpected voice stopped her in an instant. It wasn’t a mountain lion. It was a man.

Hallie Reads – Review

Reunited With the Cowboy is definitely a heartwarming story. As I have come to expect from Harlequin Heartwarming books, it balances great humor with all the emotion that must come with tragedy and dealing with the past. Add in a delightful cast of characters (human and animal alike), and it’s a story that fans of contemporary romance should not skip. I really enjoyed it and look forward to McEwan’s next story.”

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“This is a story of love and forgiveness that left me choked up at times and also was a feel-good kind of story as everyone comes together to make positive changes in their lives and in the community. I especially love the Book Biddies and can only hope to aspire to be like them one day. I really enjoyed watching all of the characters grow. . . . This was my first Claire McEwen book, and it definitely will not be my last. I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.”

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

The man stepped slowly onto the trail from some low bushes, where he must have been hiding. In the dim moonlight he was a dark shadow. Maya could see the outline of his cowboy hat, but not much else about him. Except in one hand, he held…a rifle.

Maya froze—the gun changing everything.

“It’s okay.” The man’s voice was low and steady, like he was trying to be reassuring. “I’m sorry if I scared you.”

Two Points of Interest – Review

“I thought the novel was a nice cozy read. I love the Old Biddies and felt that they were the best part of the book. I like the themes of redemption and how Maya used a bad experience to become a better person. She used all the “bad energy” to do something with her life.”

E-Romance News – Excerpt

She couldn’t move the light. Didn’t know if she’d ever move anything again, because now she could see his face, and it was Caleb. Caleb Dunne.

A metallic taste coated her tongue, and she swallowed hard. Both of her knees were shaking now, and the flashlight beam quivered with her trembling hand as if her entire body was rebelling at the sight of him. Rebelling against this homecoming, which was already turning into the disaster she’d always assumed it would be.

She had to lower the light. It was wrong to keep blinding him. But if she lowered it, he’d realize who she was. And Maya already knew what his reaction would be. Rage. Disgust. Horror. Because she was the last person Caleb would want to meet on this trail, or anywhere else.

Babs Book Bistro – Review

“[I] enjoyed the story and characters. It was nice to see both of them come to terms with what happened and try to work together to make the right things happen. A clean romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

Reunited With the Cowboy is both entertaining and emotional with vivid and likable characters (both the 2-legged and 4-legged varieties). The perspective of respect for ranchers protecting their animals as well as for the predators trying to survive is thoughtfully presented and educational (without distracting too much from the plot). Additionally, a host of intriguing secondary characters with potential stories has me eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series!”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“”McEwen has put a lot of growth into the novel – from the perspective of her leading characters but also from the supporting cast. . . . I appreciated how McEwen wrote this story – as she’s taken a lot of realistic real world situations and beautifully crafted them into the background of the series she’s written with such a heart of purpose that you can’t wait to read the next installment!”

Library Lady’s Kid Lit – Review

“I love the redemption in this story. . . . Throughout Reunited with the Cowboy Maya and Caleb learn to get past the demons that haunt them but will they rekindle the love they once had?

Claire McEwen has written an emotional novel but she has also included what appears to be accurate scientific information about pumas/mountain lions. I love it when I can learn something in a novel.”

The Magic Of Wor(l)ds – Excerpt

For a split second Caleb wondered if Maya was actually real. Still as prey, with moonlight painting shadows around her eyes, she was almost ghostlike. Fitting, since she’d haunted him for all these years.

His hands had become fists, and he carefully unclenched them, trying to fathom her presence on this trail. “Why are you here?” It came out in a hoarse whisper.

The Power of Words – Review

“Sometimes you start reading a series romance – expecting it to be good in the ordinary way – only to discover that you hold a gem in your hands. Reunited with the Cowboy by Claire McEwen is a romance with emotion, complexity, and rich characterization. I was caught up from the very first page and enjoyed this engaging story.”

splashesofjoy – Excerpt

He caught the edge of frustration in her voice. He was being a jerk, but maybe that was okay if it would help keep her from coming out to his property. He didn’t want time with her. Didn’t want to face everything he’d lost when he’d told her to leave. “We shouldn’t even be around each other.”

“Trust me—I was hoping to avoid you. But here we are.” She gestured around them, at the trail, at the night, in a sort of helpless way. Like their meeting was a fate she didn’t want but had already accepted.

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“Looks like Miss McEwen has earned herself a new fan. I would love to read her other books and I can not wait to find out what happens in the next installment from the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. I recommend this book for readers who love to read clean and heartwarming Cowboy romances.”

Red Headed Book Lady – Review

“A sweet love story that will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

This is a great read with forgiveness and a light (hope) at the end of all the hurt and anger that our two favorite characters are going through. . . . This is a wonderful tale about 2nd chances.”

Colorimetry – Excerpt

Dex always said that Caleb lived in the past, and maybe that was true. So far the present hadn’t shown him much to get excited about.

Except now Maya was back. Though that wasn’t exciting. It was so many feelings, he didn’t even have words for them all. The combination was irritating, like a horsefly that kept buzzing around his head no matter how many times he slapped it away.

Remembrancy – Review

“In Reunited with the Cowboy, Claire McEwen crafts a story of grief, growth, and forgiveness. . . . McEwen combines a swoon-worthy romance with some humor . . . I’m looking at you Jace and Trisha. Here’s hoping another trip to Shelter Creek is coming soon.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt

A green pickup was parked alongside the barn, and Caleb tried to steady his thoughts. He had to keep his cool with her. He’d show her the permit he’d shoved in his jacket pocket before he left the house just now. She’d lecture. He’d pretend to listen. Then she’d be gone, out of his life again. It was all pretty simple, as long as he kept his mouth shut and nodded a bunch.

A small squeak behind him had him turning to see Hobo trotting up, his green eyes meeting Caleb’s in cat-concern. The cat trailed after Caleb most of the time. He’d even taken to riding on Caleb’s shoulder while Caleb worked around the barn. Which was kind of cute, though it had Caleb worrying that he was turning into the male equivalent of a lonely cat lady. But mostly he was just glad to have the company.

EmpowerMoms – Spotlight

Pause for Tales – Review

“This was another page turner in the Heartwarming line dealing with heavier topics and there was a little more language. Overall I liked this story and watching the growth of Caleb and Maya and their reconciliation was sweet to witness. I look forward to more of author McEwen stories.”

Janice’s Book Reviews – Review

“I loved her grandmother. She and some other ladies have a book club. They called it the Book Biddies. Those ladies bought so much to the story.”

Peaceful Pastime – Review

“Overall, I loved Reunited with the Cowboy, the story moves a perfect pace, the characters are compelling and Ms. McEwen is a skillful storyteller. I look forward to reading more of her work.”

Harlie’s Books – Excerpt & Review

“Why don’t you just tell me what to do? Don’t you have some literature or something you can give me?” He didn’t want to spend more time with her. Didn’t want to see the way the growing sunlight lit up strands of gold in her hair. Didn’t want to think about how no other woman had caught his attention for long, since her.

Except part of him, that boy he’d been when he’d loved her, did want her here. It was ridiculous. Some ancient fantasy of happily-ever-after that his brain was revisiting.

“This book is about redemption and forgiveness. Maya is looking for redemption and forgiveness for something that she really didn’t do and Caleb is looking for redemption in his treatment of Maya all those years ago. And maybe some forgiveness, too. These two had a lot to do go through before they could even see eye to eye about their relationship. I loved that Ms. McEwen didn’t make it easy for either one of them.

I really enjoyed Maya and Caleb and I hope to see them again. I really go into Maya’s research on them and I would like an update on the center in later books. Again, give this line a chance. You won’t be disappointed.”

Baroness’ Book Trove – Review

Reunited with the Cowboy by Claire McEwen is an excellent book, and I loved the characters, the quirky sides, the setting, and all the information packed into it about the mountain lions. I’m giving it a five-star review. I’m also recommending it to all the Romance readers out there.”

underneath the covers – Excerpt

She backed a few steps away from him and swiped at her wet cheeks with her sleeve. “I’m not shying away from the blame. Believe me, I carry more guilt and regret than you can ever imagine, every single day of my life. But maybe it’s time you were honest about your part in it. And about Julie’s part. Her actions helped cause that car accident.”

“Go.” It came out like a growl from somewhere deep and raw in Caleb’s chest. She was hacking at bone with her words, excavating pain he’d buried deep for a reason. “This isn’t going to work, you and me. It could never work. You want to leave me something to read about managing wildlife? Fine. But don’t come back here, trying to tell me how to run my ranch. Or how to remember my sister.”

Teatime and Books – Excerpt

“Hello, Mrs. Burton.”

“You always called me Lillian, so please don’t get all formal on me now.”

One side of Caleb’s mouth curled in a half smile that took Maya by surprise. She’d only seen him looking stern, hungover and miserable. That piece of a smile was a shimmering reminder of all the times he’d smiled at her. Except he’d been smiling at Grandma, and it was gone now, as he turned to his aunt. “You told me you wanted to meet for dinner. Then you talked me into this meeting instead. How about you and I go get that food now?”

“Reading Reunited with the Cowboy by Clause McEwen felt like watching a romance TV series. I loved seeing all of the different stories pulling together, especially the romance. It was filled with life’s hard times, community love, and sweet romance.”

Kathryn Cooper Write’s Review

4 out of 5 STARS

I love country life cowboy books. Maybe it’s because I’m a born and raised Texas gal. 😁

Maya and Caleb had loved each other back in their teenage days. But there had been a terrible car accident when Caleb’s sister died. Maya had been driving. Years later Maya came home to see her grandma. She had to see some mountain lions for work on Caleb’s property. Things don’t go well.

Caleb had gone through war in the Marine Core. He had emotional scars from war and from losing his little sister. He blamed Maya and struggled being near her. It was good to see him grow and leave behind bad habits. The one thing I don’t like in this book are the cuss words. I rated them as mild, but I prefer books with none.

Maya learned to stand up for and just believe in herself. I think we all have moments where we thought we couldn’t accomplish something. Believing in ourselves gives us the strength to reach our goals.

The side characters were great! I loved Maya’s grandma’s book club, full of fun sassy ladies. They were hilarious. Caleb had a good friend, Jace, who had become the dad of his 2 neices and nephew. I hope he’ll be the main character in another romance novel!

Reading Reunited with the Cowboy by Clause McEwen felt like watching a romance TV series. I loved seeing all of the different stories pulling together, especially the romance. It was filled with life’s hard times, community love, and sweet romance.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Sweet Home Alaska
By Beth Carpenter

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

Welcome to the tour for SWEET HOME ALASKA. If you read AN ALASKA PROPOSAL, you might remember Volta, Leith’s sister. This is her story. Although part of the Northern Lights series, all the books are stand-alone, so feel free to jump in anywhere. . .

Red Headed Book Lady – Review

“I loved this book. A sweet, clean read at it’s best!! . . . I truly enjoyed this author’s story and her writing is wonderful!! I love trying out new authors and this wasn’t disappointing. . . . I strongly recommend this book for people who want a sweet and clean read. . .”

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

Volta headed toward the exam room, but before she reached the door, another voice drifted out, reassuring and calm. “Good job, Lori. Not much longer now. Try to relax for a minute. Slow, easy breaths.”

Volta stopped in her tracks. She knew that voice, deep and smooth, with just a bit of drawl. But it couldn’t be. The owner of the voice she knew was working on the other side of the world. No doubt this was some other baritone-voiced doctor from Texas. The voice continued, “You’re at a ten. Doing great. Next contraction, you’ll be able to push.”

The Power of Words – Review

“In Sweet Home Alaska, Beth Carpenter delivers another wonderfully entertaining clean romance in the Northern Lights series. . . . Sweet Home Alaska is the complete package – a sweet romance filled with rich characters and depth. I enjoyed the chemistry between Scott and Volta, and learned a lot about the needs of people in rural Alaska. Here’s hoping for more stories in this engaging series!”

Paulette’s Papers – Excerpt

A surgical mask covered most of the doctor’s face, but he stared at Volta, his eyes wide in shock. Familiar brown eyes. It had been eleven years, but she remembered every detail. She knew if she got closer, she would be able to distinguish the little flecks of green sprinkled through the brown. What in the world was Scott Willingham doing in Sparks, Alaska?

From somewhere far away, Daniel’s voice made itself heard. “Dr. Willingham, Volta Morgan, flight paramedic.” Scott tugged the surgical mask from his face. “Volta?”

Thoughts of a Blonde – Excerpt

He’d tried to forget her. After all, Scott was the one who broke it off. Few marriages survived the sort of life he’d chosen, and with his background, he was a particularly bad risk. Just like his father, Scott was the sort of man who focused on a job and forgot to eat and sleep and spend time with his family. Volta deserved so much better than that. Once he realized their relationship was beginning to feel serious, he’d pulled the plug, and he’d never seen Volta again.

Scott’s life had turned out exactly the way he’d planned. He’d been with DEMA for ten years now, one of only a handful of full-time doctors ready to go wherever and whenever he was needed. Most of their medical staff consisted of volunteers who took a week or two off from their regular practices to volunteer with DEMA, but Scott worked year-round delivering babies and performing surgeries. And yet, even after all this time, Volta still appeared in his dreams.

Kathryn Cooper Writes – Review

Sweet Home Alaska by Beth Carpenter was a delightful read. . . . The story takes place in Alaska which is like a different world for me, a Texas girl. I don’t like snow, but reading about the unique beauty of Alaska and the adventures makes me want to travel there. . . . It’s a clean romance with heart pumping moments. Enjoy reading Sweet Home Alaska.”

E-Romance News – Excerpt

“Yeah, she had a mommy and a daddy and a horse. They’re a real family.”

That nagging sense of inadequacy pricked at Volta. “Real families come in all shapes and sizes, Emma. Just because your daddy died doesn’t mean we’re not a real family.”

“Well.” Emma peeked up from beneath her eyelashes. “If I can’t have a daddy, I should at least get a horse.”

Janice’s Book Reviews – Review

“Such a fun story with Emma, who is Volta daughter. I would have never thought of horseback riding in Alaska.”

Hallie Reads – Review

“I love to fictionally visit Alaska, and Beth Carpenter bring the state to life with her stories—when I pick up one of her books, it’s a trip I know I’ll enjoy taking. . . . A sweet, sweet story dealing with family drama, forgiveness, and the challenges of life in Alaska, Sweet Home Alaska is a treat. I enjoyed it, and if you like contemporary (Alaskan) romance, I think you will, too.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

Sweet Home Alaska will leave you with a warm heart and a smile on your face … and maybe travel plans to the gorgeous setting. Scott, Volta, and Emma are smartly-drawn characters with gentle but strong spirits who will quickly take up residence in your heart. You’ll feel the emotions of the story along with them, and you’ll cheer them on from that surprise reunion in the delivery room to the satisfying conclusion. (You may want to purse whomp Scott on occasion but stick with him. I promise.) If you love a gorgeous setting, great characters, and a little bit of adventure mixed in with your romance, this series – and Sweet Home Alaska – is for you!”

EmpowerMoms – Review

“I loved reading this sweet, heartwarming love story! . . . Clean romance, great characters, and interesting story line. Easy and fun to read-highly recommend!”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

Emma skipped away. Her grandmother looked at Scott and then at Volta. When neither of them answered her unspoken question, she said, “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Scott. I’m going to go watch Emma and give you and Volta a minute to talk about…whatever it is you’re here to talk about. Excuse me, please.”

“Nice to meet you, too, Mrs. Jordan,” Scott said quickly.

As soon as she’d stepped away, Volta grabbed Scott’s elbow and dragged him to the far corner of the barn, away from everyone. “Once again. Why are you here?”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“I definitely will be seeking out the rest of this Northern Lights series as I liked the pacing and the presentation of how Carpenter implores us to want to know more about this world she’s created for us to find! She hugs us so close to the hearts of her characters, it is easy to feel what they’re feeling and live a period of time in their shoes rather than our own. In essence, I love that this is another small towne series focused on family, hearth, home an a wicked dollop of romance! Best of all, she gave me a new reason to venture back to Alaska and that was the icing on the cake!”

Harlie’s Books – Excerpt & Review

“Why was he dropping you off?”

“I left my keys— It doesn’t matter. The point is, I’m eleven years older now, and I hope wiser. Scott is doing important work with this study and I can contribute. He doesn’t know Alaska, and I do. After I introduced Scott, the people we interviewed yesterday opened up and gave him valuable information.”

“Are you sure this is a good idea?”

“I think I’m mature enough to work alongside a man without falling in love with him. Besides, it’s only for a couple of weeks.” Volta laughed. “What could go wrong?”

“If I had to give out my best book of the year award right now, it would be this book. It is that good. This isn’t my first book by Ms. Carpent[e]r and she never disappoints. . . . This is a great second chance romance from the heart. . . . Peeps, you really need to read Ms. Carpentar and this series. She brings emotional depth, humor, great characters, and a setting to die for. I recommend Ms. Carpentar to anyone that will listen to me. And yes, this is a series but each book stands alone.”

Getting Your Read On – Review

“Beth Carpenter has such a gentle way of building a story. Her books are easy to fall into and I always feel like I’m on a journey that will take me somewhere satisfying. . . . it was a good journey and I really enjoyed it. I could see this book becoming a TV series or a Hallmark movie.”

Splashesofjoy – Review

Sweet Home Alaska is a sweet heartwarming read. I didn’t read the first book in this series, but I think this one is fine as a stand alone. Author Beth Carpenter does a wonderful job of writing detailed scenes of Alaska throughout the story, and even though I’ve never been there, I felt as though I was in the middle of this story. . . . All in all, this is a wonderful, sweet and clean romance that will give you hours of enjoyment.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I would give Sweet Home Alaska one hundred stars if I could. I highly recommend this book for readers who love a sweet, clean, and heartwarming story of second chances, forgiveness and redemption. I have got to read the other books in this series.”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“This is a fun tale of a man looking for the love he walked away from so many years ago, in hope he could somehow rekindle that love.

It was somewhat predictable, but with a couple of “twists” and was so well-written. . .”

Remembrancy – Review

“Carpenter takes readers to these places, sharing the majesty and beauty of Alaska while highlighting a few of the difficulties involved with living in these remote areas, specifically prenatal care. Oh, but the author doesn’t stop there. There’s a second chance romance you can’t help but root for, a sweet little horse-loving girl, and a bit of family drama.

In fact, there was so much to love about this book, I can’t pinpoint what I enjoyed the most.”

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Review

Sweet Home Alaska is a wonderful book about two people getting a second chance at love. I really appreciated the fact that Volta and Scott already knew each other and had been in love before, so the romance that builds between them again doesn’t feel forced or rushed. . . . All of these characters really deliver and make this such an enjoyable book to read.

Of course, I love the Alaskan setting, and the story is fantastic. But I’ll leave it up to you to read this and find out just how great Sweet Home Alaska really is! Enjoy!”

Kathryn Cooper Writes’ Review

4 out of 5 STARS

Sweet Home Alaska by Beth Carpenter was a delightful read. Volta and Scott had a romantic past. It had ended because Scott didn’t think he could keep a long term relationship with his job. He planned to be a doctor that traveled around the world.

Volta’s heart had been broken by falling in love with Scott in the past. She tries to keep from falling for Scott again. He doesn’t show up in Alaska on accident though. He wants to talk through with her the bad break up from the past to feel better in the present. Scott and Volta both try and fail to keep their emotions from falling for each other again.

The story takes place in Alaska which is like a different world for me, a Texas girl. I don’t like snow, but reading about the unique beauty of Alaska and the adventures makes me want to travel there.

Volta’s daughter is a sweet addition to the story. I enjoy reading books with growing family love. The story had more slow and unneeded scenes than I prefer, but I still enjoyed the sweet love story.

It’s a clean romance with heart pumping moments. Enjoy reading Sweet Home Alaska.

Audio Books

Audio Book Love!

Over the past few years I’ve started to enjoy audio books. I’d find a clean (G/PG style) audio book through my library app. I fell in love with Adult Christian Romance because those books don’t get into PG13/R rated type of romance. I would then find more books by those authors and read them when I found the time and energy.

This year I found Deseret Books app called Bookshelf Plus. I got the first month free to see if I liked it. I LOVED it! I can’t remember the exact price, but it was around $70 for the year! There are tons of clean romance books I’m in love with now! Here’s the list of the audio books I’ve enjoyed so far this year. They are all from either my library app or bookshelf app, http://deseretbook.com/bookshelf-plus. Click the pictures to go to its goodreads page, and see what they’re about.

HAPPY READING!
