Emily
At eighteen, Lady Emily Fitzgerald has seen her fair share of scandal. So when this Season’s prime catch proposes to her on a wager, she makes a decision. Rather than face the whispers and stares of London society yet again, she picks up and departs for Scotland, full of romantic images evoked by poetry and her own imagination.

The Scot
Cousin to the laird, Jamie MacLaughlin is nonetheless a simple man, content with the honest pursuit of living in the bonny wilds of the Scottish Highlands. A simple man he may be, but one with deep emotions and a quick temper. So when an impertinent English lass crosses his path, it’s no surprise that the two engage in sparring matches with words as their weapons.

First there’s a misunderstanding over an item of luggage. Then there’s an indecent swimming incident, followed by a muddy pigsty mishap. But what finally threatens to undo them both is a sudden — and unexpectedly delicious — kiss.

Today I get to feature a fictional Twitter post between two main characters in the book. Enjoy!

Ellie

The Jane Austen Academy picks up on the first day of school, but rumors of the dreaded Mrs.
Berg (Bergie) taking over the reigns and making the school co-ed have been buzzing all summer,
especially because this means the girls now have to give up private rooms and have roommates
to make rooms for the guys.

Lizzie (FALL FOR YOU) and Ellie (SO INTO YOU) have been best friends at The Jane Austen
Academy since the first day of freshman year, and spend the summers in their home towns
wishing they could be together.

This is how I imagine them tweeting about it.

Author Bio
Cecilia Gray lives in Oakland where she reads, writes and breaks for food. She also pens her biographiesin the third person. Like this. As if to trick you into thinking someone else wrote it because she is important. Alas, this is not the case.

Cecilia has been praised for “instilling a warmth and weight into her characters” (Romancing The Book Reviews) and her books have been praised for being “well-written, original, realistic and witty” (Quills & Zebras Reviews).

Several of her titles – including A Delightful Arrangement (The Gentlemen Next Door #1) and An Illicit Engagement (The Gentlemen Next Door #2) – have spent, in her view, a shocking amount of time on bestseller lists for romance, historical romance and regency romance in the US, UK, Italy and Spain.

Her latest release, FALL FOR YOU, the first in a series of young-adult contemporary Jane Austen retellings received a starred Kirkus review and was praised for being a “unique twist on a classic” and offering “a compelling action of action, drama and love.”

She’s rather enamored of being contacted by readers and hopes you’ll oblige.

Book Review, no angel, theresa sneed

Book Review: No Angel by Theresa Sneed

Title: No Angel
Author: Theresa Sneed
Publisher: Walnut Springs Press
Release Date: August 2011
Pages: 281
Series: No Angel #1
Source: publisher
3 Stars: I Liked It/ It Was OK

Jonathan Stewart is not at all happy about having to return to earth as a guardian angel, but it’s required of all post-mortal spirits to fulfill at least one angel guardianship. Fortunately, on the Guardians Unlimited application, he had the good sense to request a client with early-marked-death status, so he believes that while his stay on earth will be most unpleasant, at least it will be short. What he doesn’t know is that a spirit with EMD status can choose his or her time of death Jonathan’s client, Celeste Knight, has a mind of her own and refuses death at every turn, leaving him stuck as her guardian angel-in a place he only wanted to forget.

My Thoughts:
Let me start by saying I don’t like angel books. I know angels are real so it’s hard for me to read a fictional take on angels. It really just doesn’t interest me. That being said, the book was just okay for me. I liked the second half of the story though. The first half was really slow, and I had a hard time connecting with Jonathan. Halfway through the book the plot started to get interesting and more fast paced with some suspense. By that point I started to like Jonathan more, and it ended on a great note which is why I moved it up to 3 stars.

Just because I don’t like angel books doesn’t mean you won’t like this book. Try it out for yourself, and let me know what you think.

Book Review, endlessly

Book Review: Endlessly by Kiersten White

THIS IS THE 3rd BOOK IN A SERIES!
Book 1: Paranormalcy (my review)
Book 2: Supernaturally (my review)

Title: Endlessly
Author: Kiersten White
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: July 24, 2012
Pages: 385
Series: Paranormalcy #3
Source: an ARC from HarperTeen
4 Stars: I Really Liked It

Try as she might, Evie can’t seem to escape her not-so-normal past. And what was supposed to be a blissfully normal school break is ruined when a massive group of paranormals shows up at her house, claiming that Evie is the only one who can protect them from a mysterious, perilous fate.
The deadly war between the faerie courts looms ever closer. The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its future rests solely in Evie’s hands.
So much for normal.
With a perfect blend of humor and suspense, Endlessly is everything readers could dream of in a conclusion—and the unexpected twists will keep them guessing until the very last page.

My Thoughts:
If you haven’t read this series you need to. It’s fun! Evie is now a senior in high school and living the dream. She has wanted to be a “normal” teenager for a long time, and now she can be. Of course we know better; Evie’s life never seems to stay normal for long.

I love this final installment of the trilogy. The story and Evie’s life come full circle. I love the reappearances of all our favorite guys. Lend, Reth, and Jack all come back for this finale. Reth is such a complicated character, and I love him for it. Is he good? Is he bad? It’s hard to ever know. Lend is as sweet and perfect as ever. I enjoy all the scenes with Evie and one of these three guys. The banter is laugh out loud funny!

Evie is still sarcastic, sassy, and fun. Her attitude comes across disrespectful and annoying at times, but that’s just the way she deals with her problems. She takes it out on those around her. Thankfully she lived and learned.

A fantastic end to this paranormal trilogy!

Violence: mild ( tasing, injuries, knife stab, death )

Book Review, j. lloyd morgan, the hidden sun

Book Review: The Hidden Sun by J. Lloyd Morgan

Title: The Hidden Sun
Author: J. Lloyd Morgan
Publisher: Walnut Springs Press
Release Date: August 2011
Pages: 345
Series: Bariwon #1
Source: publisher
4 Stars: I Really Liked It

A faraway kingdom.
A beautiful princess.
A courageous hero.
A ruthless villain.
An impossible choice.

Eliana and Rinan are in love. However, she is destined to become queen of Bariwon, obligated to marry the victor of a competition called the Shoginoc, while Rinan, her royal guardian, is forbidden to marry. Normally they could renounce their titles to be together, but these are not normal times. Abrecan, the malevolent governor of Erd, is determined to win the Shoginoc, thereby placing his easily manipulated son Daimh on Bariwon’s throne. Can Eliana and Rinan find a way to be together without jeopardizing the peace they are so desperately trying to protect?

My Thoughts:
This book was great! I have to warn you that I yelled a third of the way through and almost didn’t finish reading it. Just know when you get to the part where you are BEYOND ANGRY at what just happened, keep reading. It gets better.

I have never read a book from so many different perspectives before. At first it was annoying, and I couldn’t keep track of what was going on. But eventually I kept up with it, and I think it added something special to the book. It was like an omniscient point of view. That’s not my preference when reading, but it worked well for this book.

The Hidden Sun was exciting, full of romance, suspense, and action! I love books with knights and sword fighting! Go read it. You’ll enjoy it. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
