Book Signing & Giveaway: The Breathless Tour

Jessica Spotswood, Marie Lu, Andrea Cremer, and Beth Revis

I went to the Breathless book tour event at the Frisco Barnes and Noble last night (near Dallas). I was 45 minutes late because I was at my 2 big boys’ soccer practice (really fun), but I was happily surprised that they were still answering questions and talking about their books when I got there. After the Q&A we all lined up to get our books signed. While waiting in line I found out two people ahead of me was a book blogger friend I’d only met online. Courtney from Fuzzy. Coffee. Books was there! It was so fun to meet her and have someone to chat with in line. I love going to these events to see that book bloggers and authors are real people! 🙂

Each author signed my Breathless tour poster, and I got a copy of Legend and Born Wicked signed too! I haven’t read Born Wicked, but I did read Legend last week and LOVED it! Here’s my review: Legend by Marie Lu.

I’ve decided to giveaway my Breathless Tour poster signed by authors Marie Lu (Legend), Beth Revis (Across the Universe series), Jessica Spotswood (Born Wicked), and Andrea Cremer (Nightshade series). Now if you couldn’t make it to any of the tour spots you can have a poster signed by these four amazing authors! You must view the web version of my blog to see the rafflecopter giveaway form. Good luck!

5 STARS I LOVED IT!!!

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’ death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

My Thoughts:
Oh boy, it has been awhile since I read a book with this much violence. I’ve read a lot of light romance books recently. This book was INTENSE but in a good way. I really enjoyed it! It was fast paced and exciting.

The two main characters June and Day (I like these names.) are 15 years old and set up to be enemies. The voice changed between June and Day. Marie, the author, did a great job with that. I loved hearing both of their thoughts. It was interesting to see how different but similar these 2 teens were who grew up in completely opposite worlds, one wealthy and one poor.

June was great. She’s small but tough. I liked how she was confident, brave, smart, and kind. Day was awesome too. If I had to pick a favorite it would be him. I felt so sorry for the poor guy. His life had been rough, but he was still positive and funny. I looked forward to the scenes with June and Day together even if they weren’t exactly getting along. The raw emotions throughout were so realistic with everything that happened to them.

Legend had enough closure at the end with plenty left unsolved to keep me excited for the next book in the series. Great debut book by Marie Lu!

If you live in north Texas Marie Lu has a book signing with 3 other YA authors next week.
February 23rd at 7pm
Barnes and Noble in Frisco.
I hope I can make it! Anyone else going to be there?

Happy Reading!
