Kate Worthington knows her heart and she knows she will never marry. Her plan is to travel to India instead—if only to find peace for her restless spirit and to escape the family she abhors. But Kate’s meddlesome mother has other plans. She makes a bargain with Kate: India, yes, but only after Kate has secured—and rejected—three marriage proposals.
Kate journeys to the stately manor of Blackmoore determined to fulfill her end of the bargain and enlists the help of her dearest childhood friend, Henry Delafield. But when it comes to matters of love, bargains are meaningless and plans are changeable. There on the wild lands of Blackmoore, Kate must face the truth that has kept her heart captive. Will the proposal she is determined to reject actually be the one thing that will set her heart free?
Set in Northern England in 1820, Blackmoore is a Regency romance that tells the story of a young woman struggling to learn how to follow her heart. It is Wuthering Heights meets Little Women with a delicious must-read twist.
My Thoughts: I love clean Regency romance! It is so fun to read books where your heart beats faster just because their hands touch. Ooo lala the tension!
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this book I read months ago. I’ve already recommended it to my friends. It was a beautiful romance and young woman’s journey set in a mysteriously beautiful setting. Traveling to England is on my bucket list, probably because of all these Regency romance books I’ve read.
Kate wanted to get away from her embarrassingly inappropriate mother and travel to India. Her mother would only allow her to leave for India if Kate could turn down three wedding proposals. You know you’re in for a treat right there. Proposals are the best. Henry was a true friend to Kate. Their relationship had built up for years to a strong friendship. Each scene with the two of them kept me wanting to read until their next scene together, chemistry!
If you love Regency romance or just romance you’ll love Blackmoore. If you read and loved Julianne Donaldson’s first book Edenbrooke then you’ll love this read. Enjoy!

Edenbrooke and Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson are beautiful historical fiction love stories. I love them both! The main characters are older teens and the love interests are in their 20s so this is a book for all ages to enjoy.

First off! I am so sorry this wasn’t up sooner today! I had the wrong date on my brain calendar.
THIS IS BOOK 2 OF THE SERIES! Book 1: Finding June
Title: Chasing June Author: Shannen Crane Camp Publisher: Sugar Coated Press Release Date: December 2013 Series: June #2 5 STARS: I LOVED IT!!!
June Laurie has it all—a budding career on the hit crime drama Forensic Faculty, a supportive and perfect boyfriend in her best friend Joseph Cleveland, and hopes of transferring her acting skills to the stage at college. But in a series of plot twists as dramatic as any Hollywood storyline, June’s dreams dim with a heavy dose of grown-up reality. Once she starts school at BYU, June’s days become filled with classes and the new challenge of dealing with jealous theatre majors who seem determined to give her the cold shoulder. Her happy plans for a future with “the one” take a turn, too, when Joseph dumps her to focus on preparing for his two-year LDS mission. Casting directors and the siren call of stardom beckon her back to California, while an old co-star appears on the scene to confuse things even more. Caught up in the drama of life—the type that has more intrigue, subplots, and unexpected romance than a murder mystery game—June starts to wonder if maybe her life’s script might end with a grand finale she never saw coming.
My Thoughts: I loved this book!!! I enjoyed watching June navigate her way through life, college life! The references to my alma mater BYU (Brigham Young University) brought back so many memories. I felt like I was back on campus, seeing it for the first time.
My heart broke a little for June during her moments of feeling alone. I think many of us can relate to feeling lonely, especially those of us who went far from home for college. I wished she would have made more friends when she didn’t get the friendship connection with Joseph she wanted, but that’s not who June is.
There was a romantic twist in the story that I loved so much but can’t talk about because I don’t want to ruin the read for any of you. Just know it was romantic and swoon worthy. EEEEEKKK! Let’s just say I have a new favorite character.
Thanks June for allowing me to join your ride of freshman year of college, old love, and new love. You’d love this series if you enjoy a good clean contemporary fiction with romance!

Labyrinth of Lies By Hannah Lokos Release Date: December 2, 2013
Something foul is afoot in Ancient Greece. Athens is bruised from a previous war with Crete. Worse still, King Minos annually demands fourteen Athenian youths to be fed to the Cretan Minotaur, which is locked inside a maze. Theseus has grown up amidst this tangle of pain. When his own beloved, Zosemine, is taken to be fed to the Minotaur, Theseus finds himself at the heart of a web of conflicting motives, with the sense that even those closest to him cannot be trusted. Questions abound. Why is his father so ashamed? What is King Minos hiding? Is the Minotaur even real? And if not, what truly lies at the heart of the labyrinth? Little does Theseus know that all the various plots, motives, and secrets all weave around one terrible truth. Theseus must navigate the labyrinth and see past the masks, to slay the Minotaur.
Hannah Lokos, the author, contacted me requesting a book review. With a new baby (making that a total of 4 boys 7 and younger!!) I haven’t had as much reading time, and nowadays I don’t even read these request emails. Sorry. It makes me sad too.
Sooo with that being said these are the words in the blurb that caught my attention: Ancient Greece, labyrinth, 14 Athenian youths to be fed to the Cretan Minotaur, Minotaur!
This sounds like a great book by a young new author!
I know this is a day late, but what books were you “Waiting On” yesterday?
I know this is super late, but you’ll still enjoy this picture! I dressed up as Scarlet, and my husband was Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. Seriously this was fun! I was a bright red head for the night.
Happy LATE Halloween!
What did you dress up as? Did any of you go as a book character?
Echo in Time (Erasing Time #2) By C.J. Hill Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books Release Date: December 23, 2013
Echo in Time delivers on “the possibility of an equally thrilling sequel” (Kirkus Reviews) to Erasing Time.
After being pulled 400 years into the future, twins Taylor and Sheridan have found some refuge from the government of Traventon, which used the dangerous Time Strainer to yank the girls from the past. Yet the threat of the dangerous technology still looms. Taylor and an ally, Joseph, are selected to go on a mission to destroy the time machine and weapon. But their actions before they do may have major consequences for the future and the past.
Action-packed and romantic, this futuristic sequel to Erasing Time is perfect for fans of dystopian and sci-fi novels such as The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Across the Universe by Beth Revis, and Matched by Ally Condie.
I can’t believe I haven’t read book 1: Erasing Time! That is pretty much insane since I am C.J. Hill’s (aka Janette Rallison) number 1 fan! I’ve read all of her books and loved them so this series is next on my list.

I am part of the Slayers: Friends and Traitors Blog Tour hosted by Fire and Ice! I am the biggest fan of C.J. Hill (aka: Janette Rallison). She is one of my must-read authors so of course I am thrilled to be a part of this blog tour!
Great news! I got an interview with Jesse!! (one of the guys Tori met at camp)
Kathryn:Hi Jesse! When you first met Tori how many years had you been spending your summers at Dragon camp? Jesse: I came to camp six years ago when I was eleven. It feels longer, though. I don’t remember what summers were like when I wasn’t training.
K: How did you find out about the camp, and what drew you there? J: Like all the Slayers, I was obsessed with dragons from the time I was little. It’s hard to explain, but I would look at a picture of a dragon and just know I was going to face one someday. Something inside of me always told me to get ready, to be prepared. When I saw a Dragon Camp flyer at my elementary school, I bugged my parents about going to camp until they agreed to sign me up.
What’s your favorite part about camp? Flying, definitely. There’s nothing else in the world like soaring through the trees.
What went through your mind when you first met Tori? I hate to admit it, but I thought there was no way she was actually a Slayer. She seemed like the type of girl who wouldn’t willing enter a fight for fear of messing up her manicure. I was really glad when she proved me wrong about that. For a lot of reasons.
Why do you train to be a dragon slayer? A lot of people go through life only thinking about themselves. I’ve always admired the type of people who are willing to fight for a cause—who think about the greater good. That’s the kind of person I want to be. Not many people can fight a dragon and win. I can. How can I leave the job to anyone else?
Now for the speed round: this or that!
Steak or Hamburger? Both. And hopefully dessert too.
Beach or Mountain? Mountain.
SUV or Motorcycle? Definitely motorcycle.
Cheesecake or Apple Pie? Apple pie
Halloween or Thanksgiving? Last Halloween didn’t go well, so I’ll take Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the interview Jesse! You’re a great guy and an amazing Slayer.
THIS IS BOOK 2 IN THE SERIES! Book 1: Slayers (my review)
Title: Slayers: Friends and Traitors Author: C.J. Hill Publisher: Feiwel & Friends Release Date: October 15, 2013 Pages: 400 Series: Slayers #2 5 STARS: I LOVED IT!!!
In C.J. Hill’s action-packed sequel to Slayers, the group of teens known as Slayers have been betrayed—but they won’t give up without a fight.
Tori’s got a problem. She thought she’d have one more summer to train as a dragon Slayer, but time has run out. When Tori hears the horrifying sound of dragon eggs hatching, she knows the Slayers are in trouble. In less than a year, the dragons will be fully grown and completely lethal. The Slayers are well-prepared, but their group is still not complete, and Tori is determined to track down Ryker—the mysterious missing Slayer.
What Tori doesn’t bargain for, however, is the surprising truth about her powers. She isn’t just a Slayer, she’s part Dragon Lord, too. How can Tori fight to save her friends when half of her is programmed to protect dragons? And with a possible traitor in their midst, the Slayers will be divided in more ways than they ever imagined.
My Thoughts: I LOVED IT! It was a great 2nd book of the series.
I love the characters, both good and bad. Tori was one tough girl. She doesn’t always believe in herself which makes her vulnerable, and I liked her for it. She was so smart and creative and surprised those who thought she couldn’t train fast enough to catch up to the other Slayers’ abilities. The scenes that had Tori with Jesse and Tori with Dirk were my favorite! How could she pick between two great and very different guys? I guess I’m fickle because each time she was with Jesse I wanted her to be with him, but then as soon as Dirk started talking I wanted her with him. Dirk has become my favorite whether I want him to end up with Tori or not is yet to be determined. I think I really like Tori with Jesse, but Dirk needs someone awesome too! All the other Slayers are unique and fun to hear about. Bess- hilarious, Rosa- so sweet, Kody- a tough and loyal cowboy, just to name a few.
The story line of this series was so fun and exciting. I love how they seemed like normal teenagers at a summer camp but were really a group of kick-butt dragon slayers. I was interested to see how this book would go with them being away from camp. I was afraid I would get bored with Tori being away from the other Slayers, but I was pleasantly surprised with all the excitement. There were chapters from other characters’ POV which kept the story flowing. I loved it!
Slayers: Friends and Traitors was exciting, fun, and romantic! I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good action romantic comedy.

CJ Hill is a pen name for a YA author who is best known for writing romantic comedies. (Slayers will be her 18th published book.) Her writing has shifted away from the romantic comedy genre, so her editor thought a pen name would be a good idea. (New books will include: dangerous dragons, time travel to dystopian worlds, and flesh-eating beetles.) Since the publisher refused to let her have the pseudonym : The Artist Formerly Referred to as Princess, she chose a name to honor her mother. CJ Hill was her mother’s pen name, or at least it would have been if her mother had published. Her mother wrote a few children’s books and a middle grade novel but was taken by cancer before she had fully learned the craft. (Most writers’ first novels aren’t publishable. CJ Junior’s first novel wasn’t, but somehow was published anyway. Now, even though it is out of print, it remains forever available on Amazon, where it taunts her with its badness. This was another good reason to use a pen name.) CJ Hill has five children, three of whom like her on any given day depending on who is in trouble. She has lived in Arizona for the last half of her life, but is still in desert denial and hopes that one day her garden will grow silver bells and cockle shells or maybe just tomatoes
