Waiting On Wednesday: Pretty Crooked

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, where we spotlight a book we are anxiously waiting to be published.

Pretty Crooked
by Elisa Ludwig
Published by Katherine Tegen Books
Released on March 13, 2012
Book Description from HarperTeen.

Willa’s secret plan seems all too simple.
Take from the rich kids at valley prep and give to the poor ones.
Yet Willa’s turn as Robin Hood at her new high school is anything but. Bilking her “friends”—known to everyone as the Glitterati—without them suspecting a thing is far from easy. Learning how to break into lockers and Beemers is as hard as she’d thought it would be. Delivering care packages to the scholarship girls, who are bullied just for being different, is more fun than she’d expected.
The complication Willa didn’t expect, though, is Aidan Murphy, VP’s most notorious ace-degenerate. His mere existence is distracting Willa from what matters most to her—evening the social playing field between the haves and have-nots. There’s no time for flirting, especially with conceited trust-funders like Aidan. But when the cops start investigating the string of thefts at Valley Prep and the Glitterati begin to seek revenge, could Aidan wind up being the person that Willa trusts most?
Elisa Ludwig’s Pretty Crooked is the first book in an adventurous teen caper series filled with mystery, humor, and heart.

A girl Robin Hood in high school?!! Sounds like a great book. I’m looking forward to reading this one.

Waiting on Wednesday: Just For Fins

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, where we spotlight a book we are anxiously waiting to be published.

Just For Fins
by Tera Lynn Childs
Published by Katherine Tegen Books
July 3, 2012

When Lily Sanderson decided to remain Crown Princess Waterlily of the mermaid kingdom Thalassinia, she knew she couldn’t just coast along in the current. But since she’s spent the last couple of years on land—with gorgeous human Quince by her side—Lily’s not sure she has the fins to lead a kingdom. Even her maddeningly pretentious cousin Dosinia seems to know more about ruling than she does.
But Lily has to dive in deep to keep her promise to Tellin, her mer bond in name only, whose kingdom is suffering in the changing ocean climate. Lily knows this is a seven seas–sized problem: from sea animals dying to oil spills and threats to humans. They’ll need to create some serious waves to make the mer community aware and get it to join together to make things right. Even if that means facing one of the iciest queens in the mer kingdoms.
Just when Lily thinks her double life on land and sea can’t get any more complicated, an ancient mer law might separate Lily and Quince after all. It feels as if the pair is up against a solid tsunami wave!
In this third installment in the series that began with Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, Lily will have to find a way to balance safety and justice for the mer people as well as for the humans she loves.

I just read the 2nd book in the Fins series so I’m definitely looking forward to the 3rd book. I think it’s the last one.

Waiting on Wednesday: Northanger Alibi

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, where we spotlight a book we are anxiously waiting to be published.

Northanger Alibi
by Jenni James
Release date is February 2012.

This modern Gothic remake of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, and nod to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Series, will leave you in stitches–literally.
Seattle Washington, and the Russo family, are no match for Claire Hart and her savvy knowledge of all things vampire related. Thanks to her obsession with the Twilight series–if there is anyone who would know a vampire when she saw one, it’s Claire. And she’s positive totally hot Tony Russo is a vampire, she just has to prove it! Follow Claire’s hilarious journey on her first summer adventure away from home, where she learns everything isn’t what it seems, and in some instances, reality is way better than anything she’d ever find in a book.

I can’t wait to read this whole series. The Jane Austen Diaries sound so fun. I need to read Pride and Popularity too which was released in 2011. Northanger Abbey was my least favorite of Jane Austen’s books actually, but this retelling sounds hilarious!! After seeing the first Twilight movie in the theater I was totally looking for vampires in the dark to jump on my car on the way home! Weren’t you?!

Shooting Stars

Release Date will be February 28, 2012

Meet Josephine Foster, or Zo Jo as she’s called in the biz. The best pint-sized photographer of them all, Jo doesn’t mind doing what it takes to get that perfect shot, until she’s sent on an undercover assignment to shoot Ned Hartnett—teen superstar and the only celebrity who’s ever been kind to her—at an exclusive rehabilitation retreat in Boston. The money will be enough to pay for Jo’s dream: real photography classes, and maybe even quitting her paparazzi gig for good. Everyone wants to know what Ned’s in for. But Jo certainly doesn’t know what she’s in for: falling in love with Ned was never supposed to be part of her assignment.

I love the ‘regular girl meets a celebrity heart throb’ story line. Sounds really fun and cute!

This dress is stunning! Could you imagine wearing that? Of course it doesn’t look very functional for moving around . . . The premise of the book sounds great too. If a prince is involved, I’m there!

Inheritance #4

Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

Under the Never Sky

If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world brimming with harshness and beauty.

I hadn’t heard about this book. I found it while browsing the HarperTeen upcoming releases. It sounds really good. I really like books where the boy and girl kind of hate each other at the beginning. It makes a fun dynamic. I’ve added it to my extremely long to-read list!

Happy Reading!
