5 STARS: I LOVED IT!!!

Poppy Amore loved her job waitressing at Good Ol’ Days Family Restaurant. No one could ask for a better working environment. After all, her best friend Whitney worked there, and her boss, restaurant owner Mr. Dexter, was a kind, understanding, grandfatherly sort of man. Furthermore, the job allowed Poppy to linger in the company of Mr. Dexter’s grandson Swaggart Moretti-the handsome and charismatic head cook at Good Ol’ Days.
Secretly, Swaggart was far more to Poppy than just a man who was easy to look at. In truth, she had harbored a secret crush on him for years-since her freshman year in high school, in fact…
When the dazzling, uber-fashionable Mark Lawson appeared one night at Good Ol’ Days, however, Poppy began to believe that perhaps her attention and her heart would be distracted from Swaggart at last…
But all the world knows that real love is not so easily put off, and Poppy began to wonder if even a man so wonderful as Mark Lawson could truly drive Swaggart Moretti from her heart. Would Poppy Amore miss her one chance at happiness, all for the sake of an unfulfilled adolescent’s dream?

My Thoughts:
Another beautifully swoon-worthy book by Marcia Lynn McClure. She is the queen of clean romantic chemistry. Love it!

Poppy was cute and sweet with a long-time crush on Swaggart, the head cook, where she waitressed. I loved the whole scene of the Good Ol’ Days restaurant, fun and homey. Just the name Swaggart made me picture a ruggedly handsome guy which turned out to be the perfect description of Swaggart Moretti.

Don’t worry Kissing Cousins isn’t about actual cousins kissing. 🙂 Poppy’s best friend Whitney was Swaggart’s cousin, and Poppy had a cousin Whitney was interested in so they had made goals to kiss each other’s cousins when they were in high school.

Kissing Cousins was such a fun and cute romantic read. I loved it!!! If you love contemporary clean romance you’ll LOVE this book.

Baby Boy Is Here!

My sweet baby boy was born June 4th weighing in at 8 lbs 5 oz. Good thing I was induced a week early or he would’ve been huge! He’s beautiful and perfect. We sure love him. His 3 big brothers love him to pieces and are already very protective and proud. We are all moved into our new house and love our new town! Things are starting to settle down, and I look forward to getting caught up on my book reviews.

4 Stars: I Really Liked It

Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.

But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses.

Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?

Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

My Thoughts:
Poison was such a fun book! Don’t you love the cover?! Kyra looks like the totally fierce potioner she is, and look you can even see the little pig Rosie peeking her head out.

Kyra was 16 years old and kind of a loner. Well it’s hard to know at first if she was a loner by personality or situation since she was a fugitive for trying to murder the princess, aka her best friend. I loved how the story started out right in the midst of the action not giving the reader a ton of background for the main character. Kyra was a bit of a mystery, but then the author started putting in flashbacks to fill us in on what had happened to get Kyra to where she currently was. I loved the flashbacks; they were perfect.

Fred was a ton of fun. The BEST part of the book was when he met Kyra while crossing a river. Let’s just say it was a little awkward for Kyra and a little too much fun for Fred. LOL so great. I loved the spark of life Fred brought to the story. Ari was spunky and fun too.

Poison was full of fun, adventure, mystery, and romance. You’ll really enjoy it!

Waiting On Wednesday: United We Spy by Ally Carter

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, where we spotlight a book we are anxiously waiting to be published.

United We Spy (Gallagher Girls #6)
By Ally Carter
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Release Date: September 17, 2013

Cammie Morgan has lost her father and her memory, but in the heart-pounding conclusion to the best-selling Gallagher Girls series, she finds her greatest mission yet. Cammie and her friends finally know why the terrorist organization called the Circle of Cavan has been hunting her. Now the spy girls and Zach must track down the Circle’s elite members to stop them before they implement a master plan that will change Cammie—and her country—forever.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! It is definitely one of my all time favorites. I cannot wait to find out what happens with Cammie and all the spy girls and ZACH!! I can’t even explain how excited I am about this book coming out. It’s the final book of the series so that’s just ridiculously exciting. I’m definitely going to have to do a re-read of the entire series before September. Who will be joining me?

Scavenger Hunt: Possession series by Elana Johnson

 photo ElanasButton1_zpscc8012ab.gif

Today, I’m one of the stops on the Possession series scavenger hunt! I’m glad to welcome author Elana Johnson to my blog today with a guest post about her series. The third and final book, ABANDON, hit shelves June 4! Take it away, Elana! ———- Okay, so Zenn Bower started out as the guy on the outside. The one who, in Possession, left Vi behind in the Goodgrounds to work for the Association. I honestly didn’t think he’d become as integral to the story as he did. But those darn characters, they have a way of sneaking in when you least expect it! At least for me. In all of my books, there’s always at least one character who turns out to be so much more than I first imagined. For the Possession series, that’s Zenn.

And he’s so important, and so conflicted, and so intertwined, that he got his own short story (free here!) and he narrates half of ABANDON. That’s right– ABANDON is dominated by boys. Zenn, who’s been struggling with the right way to do things, though he knows he wants to think for himself and he wants everyone else to be able to do so also. As ABANDON unfolds, we get to see deeper into Zenn. We get to see with his eyes, and hear with his ears, and wonder what he wonders. He was a challenge to write, because he’s not black and white the way Jag is. Zenn allows for more wiggle room. He sees gray, and he sees other ways to achieve the Resistance’s goals.

In the end, I hope readers love Zenn as much as I do! A song that embodies Zenn: Waiting for the end by Linkin Park. Today’s scavenger hunt can begin here! Somewhere on this map of the Association is the winning city. I’ve mentioned here in this post, and you can find references to it in all of today’s posts. (See complete blog tour here.)

When you know today’s scavenger hunt city, enter it in this form for a chance to win one of six Possession series paperback packages and a $50 Amazon gift card! Continue the scavenger hunt at The Eater of Books, where Alyssa has an exclusive excerpt from Zenn–with another clue for today’s city! As if that weren’t enough, there will be a daily winner of Possession series swag! Enter in the Rafflecopter below. a Rafflecopter giveaway If you get lost, you can always go to Elana’s blog to find your place. Happy hunting!

Simon & Schultz is lowering the price on the eBook of POSSESSION (Book 1- MY REVIEW)! From June 4-11 it will only be $3.99. (Click the cover below to view on Amazon.)

Growing a Baby! and lots of other reasons why I’ve been busy

Hi everyone!!! I have really missed blogging recently. At first I was too busy to think about it, but recently I just can’t stay away any longer even though things are still a little crazy. As you can see above I’ve been growing a baby which has taken a lot of energy. 😉 Plus my husband started a new job over an hour drive from where we live so we put our house up for sale, sold it in a day!!!, and are looking for a place to live. Decluttering a house takes a lot of work! We are so grateful it sold so quickly. Now in between packing boxes I’m waiting for baby boy #4 to come. I’m scheduled to be induced in a week and a half, but I’m hoping he’ll come sooner on his own. We’ll see!!!

I’ve missed all my wonderful book reading friends! I haven’t even been reading any blogs so expect comments on your blogs soon. I have been reading a lot of books so there will be reviews coming soon too. Unless baby comes today… you never know.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Waiting On Wednesday: Wild Born by Brandon Mull

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine , where we spotlight a book we are anxiously waiting to be published.

Wild Born (Spirit Animals #1)
By Brandon Mull
Publisher: Scholastic
Release Date: September 10, 2013

Interactive multi-author seven-book series launches globally September 2013 with first book and storyline by #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Mull and second book by #1 New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater.

Spirit Animals centers around the fantasy world of Erdas where children who come of age go through a ritual to determine if they have a “spirit animal,” a rare bond between human and beast that bestows great powers to both. In this breakthrough series, four children from different cultures undergo an annual ritual and discover that they have been chosen for a greater destiny. Each book in the series will unlock expanded gameplay on the immersive Spirit Animals online game site. The role-playing online game—available through any web browser—will allow kids to customize their own unique heroes, choose their spirit animals, and go on quests to help save the world of Erdas.

This just sounds really fun. I love a good MG (middle grade) every once in awhile. I loved Brandon Mull’s Fablehaven series so I’m sure this one will be amazing too.
