Book Signing: Michelle Madow

I had the opportunity to meet Michelle Madow today and get my copy of Remembrance signed! Michelle is the author of Remembrance and Vengeance. She’s the first author I’ve met. I’ve tried to go to book signings in the past, but with 3 little boys and a husband to take care of it just hasn’t worked out. Plus I never seemed to hear about signings until last minute. Here’s a website I found recently that lists upcoming book signings. http://www.findbooksignings.com/

Michelle is so cute and fun. It was so great to finally meet her. She is inspiring! Talking to high school students and inspiring them to write must be one of the most rewarding parts of being a Young Adult author.

I can’t believe how huge the online community is for Young Adult bloggers, authors, and readers. I never could have guessed I’d meet so many awesome people when I started my blog 10 months ago. I hope to meet more of you authors/bloggers/readers face to face.

Project Tell Taylor and Giveaway!!

Taylor Swift is one of my favorite musical artists. Her music is so fun and tells stories we can all relate to about love. Michelle Madow’s debut novel Remembrance ( MY REVIEW ) was inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” music video. She talked all about it in a blog entry a few months ago, discussing how Remembrance was inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” music video. She even wrote a letter to Taylor Swift and sent it to her, along with a signed book!

It’s been a few months now, and she has yet to hear back from Taylor that she received the letter and book. She really wants to tell Taylor about how inspiring she and her music have been to her, but since Taylor Swift is an international superstar, she’s a little hard to reach. This is where YOUR help comes into play! Michelle is giving away the biggest prize pack she’s offered yet, and the ways to enter to win are by telling Taylor Swift about Remembrance.

The Goal: Get Taylor Swift to Tweet about Remembrance!
Here’s Michelle telling us about the prize pack!

I haven’t told a ton of people, but I’m writing a book. I am halfway through the rough draft of my young adult book. It’s a lot of work, and sometimes I doubt I’ll ever have a finished project. Reading blogs and tweets from Young Adult authors– there are so many– and seeing their success stories inspires me to keep writing, reading, and working hard. What inspires you?

My Thoughts:
I loved this book! I had so much fun living through Lizzie as I read it. This is a book I will recommend to all my friends!!

I loved that the book took place in high school, junior year. Junior year was a fun and memorable year for me so it’s always fun to think back on that time and see it from another’s perspective. Michelle does a really amazing job with the details of high school life. She brought up little things that many of us can relate to but may have forgotten. It just made the read real and enjoyable.

Lizzie has a boyfriend named Jeremy. They’ve known each other for years and have been together for 3 years I think. That’s a long time in junior high/ high school years. The book doesn’t actually talk about this, but the situations made me think it:t When you’re in high school, don’t stay with a guy that puts you down, even jokingly, and don’t stay with someone just because it’s easy or you’ve been dating for a long time if you’re not happy. Ok, I don’t want to get on a soap box so . . . nuff said about not dating jerks. 🙂 I just felt that the situations and feelings Lizzie had in this book are very real. There are probably lots of girls out their dating guys that feed on their insecurities.

On to Drew. Mysterious. Attractive. He reminds me of Edward from Twilight. He sends mixed signals to Lizzie, and she just can’t figure him out. I don’t believe in reincarnation, neither does the author, but it made for a really fun fiction. A romantic idea really. I loved it.

There was more tense excitement than I expected. It was really fun and exciting, especially towards the end. You have to go read it!! Right now!

The next book, Vengeance, is a novella (short novel) from the point of view of Chelsea, the best friend.

Happy Reading!
